Poppies

Poppies

I got together with some of the girls I worked with at Archiver's. We got together to work with copic markers. Now, I have some knowledge of the markers, I have been playing with them for over a year now, but some of the girls were just starting with them and wanted to get any tips that we could give them. They laughed with they say how many I had, but, I told them, the amount I have is nothing compared with how many my sister has. But, I didn't use copics on this picture. I made it for a sympathy card, the second I had to make this week. It was a very easy card to make, I used Prismacolor colored. There are not the water color pencils, although you could use them if you wanted to. These are a wax pencil, meaning they do not respond to water. I blended the colors with Gamsol, that is mineral spirits. I can be bought at an art store, this would be a finer form, or at a hardware store, not as fine. Both work about the same though. When using Gamsol with colored pencils, I use what is called a stump. These can also be found at art stores, scrapbooking stores, craft stores, or on line. They look like a pencil, but don't have any lead in them. I think they are made with paper, but I'm not sure. After using one to blend colors, take a finger nail file or sand paper and file the color off the end of the stump. Very easy. If you do try this technique, have fun with it.

Pet Sympathy Card

Pet Sympathy Card

I made this card for my sister and her family. I found out, last week, that they had to put a part of they had to put a part of their family to sleep, their dog, Jake. Jake has been with them for a number of years and came to them as an abused animal. When they first adopted him, he would not let anyone close to him. Over time, Jake turned out to be the best dog. He was funny looking, short legs and a bigger body, but he was really cute. My sister should be getting the card today. There is a letter that goes with it explaining "The Rainbow Bridge". The site for that letter http://petloss.com/poems/maingrp/rainbowb.htm . Check it out, it will yank at your heart strings. The card is cased after a card I found on Splitcoast. The card is "CAS91 Heaven's I Pawprints" by Bev Baron. I liked her card better, but this will do the trick.
