Love and Sympathy

Love and Sympathy

I am really surprised I got a card on my blog this week, a water pipe broke in the basement and we had about two and a half inches of water in the basement. That's where my stamp room is. I had an evening to get everything out of my room including shelves so everything is in boxes, bags, and anything else I could find to put things in. The good side, when I do put my room back together, I'll be getting rid of things I don't need or use.

A couple of days ago, I found this card and technique on Splitcoast and really liked it, I don't remember who made the card. I got home that afternoon and found out a good friend of my husbands past away so I decided to make this card and send it to his family.

The background colors are put on the card using 1 1/2" masking tape (blue painters tape). If you do decide to make this, use glossy paper at least for the top layer. I tried it on plain white paper and it doesn't come out the same. It is easy, take a strip of the tape and lay it on the color of ink you are using and then lay it on the glossy paper, the color transfers. Just take care, this is glossy paper so the ink might not dry right away. For the grass, which is "Inspired by Nature" by Stampin' Up, I used Chocolate Chip in by SU, but if I were to make this again, I would use a pigment ink. The die ink just isn't as sharp as a pigment and would probably go on a lot more even. I cut the bird out with my Cricut machine, but if you have a bird stamp, that would work. Also you could use something different like butterflies or dragon flies. Enjoy the card!

A Quick Thank You Note

This is a quick "Thank You" note card I made for a friend. It took about ten minutes to make, perfect if you are making a card in a hurry or if you have to make a bunch of cards. The paper is a light weight paper, some I bought for dry embossing. It is a lime green on one side and white on the other side. The tools you will need besides the stamp and ink are two punches, one a square about 3/4" square and the other an outline. I used this leaf punch. Make sure the outline you pick is bigger than the square. It has to sit on both sides of the square. The card is an A2 card, 5 1/2 X 4". Score the paper, fold with the white on the outside. Punch the square in the lower corner. Punch the outline out twice. I ran the leaf threw a Xyron, this turns it into a sticker and easier to mount it. Mount on leaf onto the top of the card, over the square. open the card and mount the other leaf over the top of the first leaf. This will give it a finished look. Have fun making this card.

Materials needed:

Tools - two punches, one square 3/4", one the outline of something such as the leaf I used or a flower

Stamp - Thank You
